Mount Arab is located West on Route 3 about three miles from the town of Tupper Lake. At the town of Piercefield, turn left on the Conifer Road and go a few miles more to the trailhead. When hiking to the top, be sure to sign the register.
Mt Arab is a very popular peak because of the spectacular views from the fire tower. The fire tower has been restored by the Friends of Mount Arab, and a forestry student staffs it throughout the summer.
You can view Tupper Lake and Mount Morris to the northeast, the Adirondack High Peaks to the east, The Raquette River valley to the north, Horseshoe Lake Wild Forest to the southwest, and Mt Arab Lake and Eagle Crag Lake to the west. On a clear day you can see North to Whiteface Mountain.
I have been climbing Mount Arab yearly for over 20 years. Its a great little peak with a relatively exposed rock summit. If you climb be sure to visit the fire tower. In 2006, the trees in the area were decimated by a tent caterpillar infestation. Hopefully they will recover and the peak will be beautiful once again.
