[EN] An 18th century fountain, and what a fountain! It is the only remains of the old Sainte-Aldegonde church, ruined by the fall of its bell tower in 1800. It commemorates the opening of the Neufossé canal between the Aa and the Lys in 1756. The statues, Above the central niche, represent these two rivers. Two of the vases of the fountain were carved by François Chifflart, painter, sculptor and engraver audomarois, grand prize of Rome 1851, which notably illustrated works of Victor Hugo of which he was the friend. The fountain was classified to historical monuments in 1981 and restored between 2009 and 2012. It enhances its brilliance the small square Victor Hugo.
