Over the Kicking Horse River in downtown Golden are a pair of bridges over two channels of the river.

The north channel is bridged by this small steel truss bridge while the south channel is bridged by a much smaller concrete and steel girder bridge. This is a Parker Through Truss steel bridge about 150 feet in length. Built in 1951 by Western Bridge & Steel Fabricators Limited of Vancouver, BC, it has a bronze date plaque affixed to the right side end beam on the north end of the bridge, about at eye level. With a paved bridge deck, the bridge has a concrete sidewalk with steel railing cantilevered off its east side. The two bridges are known by their numbers, this being the Kicking Horse River No. 1 Bridge.
