This prominent quarry is situated on the south side of Lucklaw Hill, just west of the village of Balmullo, which lies six miles inland of St.Andrews.

There has been a quarry here since 1925 according to maps which depict it as around half the size it is now.

It is currently owned by Breedon Aggregates and is now well known for Balmullo Chips, an orange-pink fersite used in paths and driveways. Other minerals found in the area of the hill, which was volcanic in nature, include azurite, baryte, malachite, metatorbernite and pseudomalachite.

The quarry can be reached from a minor road heading west from the northern point of Balmullo.

Type of Stone/Ore mined: Fersite
