Originally named Mountain View Park, it became Queen Elizabeth Park sometime after the 1930s. In the park is a small fountain dedicated to ten time mayor Hector Francis McKinnon who died in 1929 of burns sustained in a fire on his dairy. Elsewhere in the park are benches and picnic tables in a pastoral area shaded by mature coniferous trees.

Activities available in the park include a tennis court and a large sports field in which are a baseball diamond and soccer fields. For the kiddies, though, the playground is the place to be. Just inside the entrance off 9th Street, it has swings, slides and the now common factory made and assembled on site climbing equipment which have become seemingly ubiquitous in recent years. The entire playground is on pea gravel, affording a relatively soft landing from the inevitable falls and spills.
