In downtown Aberdeen, the Mayors' Park has a large millstone from an old area mill. The large stone is at the center of the compass rose walkway.

Located in the area many years ago, there were several grist mills for making flour and meal. Agriculture and later railroads helped the area to prosper. With the railroads, industry followed. With more people in the area, the farmers and millers made more money for better lifestyle.
