The monument to king Alfonso XII of Spain (1857–1885) is located in the Buen Retiro Park in Madrid. It was projected in 1901 by architect José Grases Riera (1850–1919), built of stone and bronze from 1902 to 1922, and inaugurated on July 3rd, 1922. The sculptures were made by 22 artists.
The monument is depicted on one of the six stamps issued in November 3, 1961 on the occasion of the 400th Anniversary of Madrid's Status as Capital of Spain.
