"Ce cinématographe Pathé fut construit par l'architecte bordelais Hector Loubatié. La date portée sur le bâtiment indique qu'il date de 1908. Il constitue ainsi le premier véritable cinéma de Montpellier. Ce premier cinéma était doté d'une salle de 500 m² pouvant accueillir jusqu'à 900 personnes (parterre + balcon).
Sur la façade en pierres de taille on peut voir des guirlandes surmontées d'un coq, emblème de la compagnie des frères Pathé. L'ensemble a été sculpté par le ciseau du sétois François Acher en 1909.
Ce cinéma a ouvert ses portes le 6 janvier 1909. Ce cinéma surnommé "le Pathé" a fonctionné jusqu'en 1980.
Le 9 avril 1996, la façade est inscrite au titre des Monuments historiques.
Le cinéma, propriété de la Ville, a été depuis transformé en centre culturel : le centre Rabelais."

On the stone facade one can see garlands surmounted by a rooster, emblem of the company of brothers Pathé. The ensemble was sculpted by the chisel of the Sétois François Acher in 1909.
This cinema opened its doors on January 6, 1909. This cinema nicknamed "the Pathé" worked until 1980.
On April 9, 1996, the façade is listed as Historic Monuments.
The cinema, owned by the City, has since been transformed into a cultural center: the Rabelais center."
