Marston Water Tower was built in 1897 and was the first steel, elevated water tower west of the Mississippi River, and is located on the Iowa State University campus. Anson Marston, the first Dean of the College of Engineering at the university, designed the tower and oversaw its construction. It provided water for the university but it presently is not in use. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
On weekdays, parking is very limited to non-existent. There is a public parking deck near the Memorial Union, and the water tower is a couple of blocks walk northwest from there.
The water tower is accessible anytime the university is open.
