As the plaque reads:
Zion United Church, Pheasant Forks
The Pheasant Forks Colony was first settled by Primitive Methodists from Yorkshire, England, under the auspices of the Primitive Methodist Colonization Company. The first worship service in the colony was conducted on the South Bank of the Pheasant Creek by Mr. John Allen on June 2, 1882. Mr Allen was one of several lay preachers in the community. Services were conducted in the homes of the settlers until 1885 when a log hall was built in the townsite of Pheasant Forks. The present church was built in 1905. The corner stone was laid by Mrs. Quarton Stillborn.
