As the plaque reads:

1882-1982
To commemorate the arrival and honour the memory of a group of primitive Methodist Colonists from Yorkshire England and Ontario, Canada who came across country from Brandon, Manitoba by wagon-train arriving at Pheasant Forks District of Assiniboia N. W. T. June 2. 1882

1885-1947
Pheasant Forks S. D. No. 48 School began in a log hall in 1885 replaced in 1894 by a one room frame building. In 1920 a two room red brick school was built and opened January 1, 1921. Closed December 1947.
