MW0239 'K 602 1940' - Modoc County, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey from 1940 in good condition. It is a metal disk monumented on top of a square concrete post projecting about 12 inches above the ground. It is located east of Highway 139 and about three feet west of a north-south fence line. There is an orange carsonite witness post located next to this mark for easier recovery. This benchmark is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4143'. This station is not listed in the NGS database BUT it serves as an Azimuth Mark for the OVERPASS series of survey marks about .6 miles south of this mark (PID MW0835). My posted coordinates should place you very close to this mark.
