MW0846 - USC&GS 'SCORPION' Reference Mark 2 - Modoc County, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Reference Mark 2 from 1948 in good condition. The mark is located east of Highway 139 and on top of a small hill and about 30 feet east of the triangulation station.
The posted NGS coordinates and datasheet description are acceptable for station recovery, although the community of Tionesta no longer exists.

REFERENCE MARK NUMBER TWO IS A STANDARD REFERENCE DISK THAT IS SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST THAT PROJECTS 3 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. THE DISK IS STAMPED SCORPION NO 2 1948.
