I recovered the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Reference Mark 1 from 1948 in poor condition. The concrete post was found uprooted and tilted on one side and the corner of the edge of the disk was bent upwards. The mark is located east of Highway 139 and on top of a small hill and about 30 feet N/NE of the triangulation station.
The posted NGS coordinates and datasheet description are acceptable for station recovery, although the community of Tionesta no longer exists.
NGS datasheet info for Reference Mark 1:
REFERENCE MARK NUMBER ONE IS A STANDARD REFERENCE DISK THAT IS SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST THAT PROJECTS 3 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 57 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF HIGHWAY 139. THE DISK IS STAMPED SCORPION NO 1 1948.
