I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1940 in good condition. It is monumented on top of a concrete semaphore base on the east side the railroad tracks. This BM also appears on a topography map as 'BM 4036.5 W 603'. The NGS datasheet is adequate for station recovery although the semaphore pole has been removed and there is no longer any original witness post although an orange carsonite witness post stands nearby. My more accurate coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

RAILROAD FROM THE FLAG STATION AT STRONGHOLD, MODOC COUNTY, 165 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE CANBY-KLAMATH FALLS HIGHWAY, AT A SEMAPHORE, IN THE TOP OF THE CONCRETE BASE, 9 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE MAIN TRACK, AND AT A WHITE WOODEN WITNESS POST. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED W 603 1940.
