MW0263 - USC&GS 'U 603' BM - Siskiyou County, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1940 in good condition. It is monumented on top of the SE wingwall of a concrete culvert under railroad tracks. This BM also appears on a topography map as 'BM 4035.9 U 603'. The NGS datasheet is adequate for station recovery. My more accurate coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1940 1 MI SE FROM TULE LAKE. 1.0 MILE SOUTHEAST ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC CO. RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT TULE LAKE, SISKIYOU COUNTY, AT A DIRT-ROAD CROSSING, AT BRIDGE 528.69 OVER AN IRRIGATION DITCH, IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTHEAST CONCRETE WING WALL, 50 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE NORTHEAST TRACK, 20 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE SOUTHWEST TRACK, AND 7 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED U 603 1940.
