Le Moulin du Val d’Or est un te´moin du passe´ sucrier esclavagiste du Sud aux 18e`me et 19e`me sie`cles et issu de l’habitation sucrie`re Val d’Or qui comme les autres habitations de l’e´poque a subi un de´membrement apre`s l’abolition.
Cette re´habilitation architecturale de l’unique moulin a` be^tes, a` e´tages et fonctionnel de la Carai¨be, sur le site de l’Habitation Sucrie`re de Val d’Or datant de 1770 et qui regroupe a` la fois le moulin et les vestiges de la sucrerie attenante est une action importante pour mieux comprendre l’histoire de la Martinique.
Construit pour la 1ère fois au 17ème siècle sur les terres d’une habitation sucrière, le Moulin de Val d’Or a récemment fait l’objet d’une restauration complète, qui a notamment permis de restituer les murs, la toiture en essentes de wapa et le mécanisme de manège entrainant les rolles à broyer la canne.
