Weihnachten 1937 bezog die Familie Konrad Adenauer ihr neues Domizil in Rhöndorf.
Es sollte für mehr als drei Jahrzehnte hinweg Adenauers Zuhause sein.
Die privaten Wohnräume des ersten Bundeskanzlers sind öffentlich zugänglich. Großzügig und bescheiden zugleich präsentiert sich bürgerliche Wohnkultur im Hause Adenauer.
Das Adenauerhaus ist ein dreigeschossiges, Wohngebäude auf L-förmigem Grundriss mit einem Walmdach aus Schiefer. Es ist umgeben von einem in Terrassen angelegten Garten. Im Garten befinden sich ein Teehaus, ein Pavillion, eine Boccia-Bahn und diverse Statuen. Der Garten ist durch seine mediterran anmutende Vielfalt von Pflanzen, Plastiken und Brunnen eine Sehenswürdigkeit.
Nach Adenauers Tod übertrugen seine Erben den Nachlass und das Anwesen an die Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Das Privatanwesen wurde im Rahmen von Führungen öffentlich zugänglich gemacht. Seit April 2017 ist im großen Museumsgebäude unterhalb des Wohnhauses eine moderne, breitgefächerte Ausstellung zum Leben und Wirken Konrad Adenauers zu besichtigen.
At Christmas 1937 Konrad Adenauer´s family moved to their new home in Rhöndorf.
It was to remain Adenauer´s home for more than three decades.
The private living quarters of the first German chancellor are open to the public. Generous but modest, they present the unpretentious lifestyle of the Adenauer family.
The "Adenauerhaus" is a 3-storey, residential building on l-shaped plan with a hipped roof from slate. It is surrounded by a garden invested in terraces. In the garden there are a teahouse, a Pavillion, a Boccia road and various statues. The garden is a place of interest by his Mediterranean variety of plants, plastics and wells.
After Adenauer's death his heirs transferred the reduction and the property to the Federal Republic of Germany. The private property was made publicly accessible within the scope of excursions. Since April, 2017 a modern, diversified exhibition on the life and work of Konrad Adenauer is to be visited in the big museum building below the dwelling house.
