Sanary-sur-Mer is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. It is located in coastal Provence on the Mediterranean Sea 13 km (8.1 mi) from Toulon and 49 km (30 mi) from Marseille.
Sanary has a beautiful coast line with small beaches; unlike most small towns on the Mediterranean coast it is an active village all year round. Sanary-sur-Mer is probably the sunniest place in France, with an average of only 61 days of rain, mostly in winter, and solar radiation (6156 MJ/m2/yr), comparable to Sicily.
Since 2009, the city has undertaken numerous works to improve the environmental quality of its port, and has introduced measures to improve the safety and comfort of users.
In 2016, the port was given a new lighthouse jetty, a new refueling station, a fairing area, rainwater treatment facilities, the creation of the Tourist Office for the Cultural Information Counter and of the construction of the new wastewater lifting station located under the esplanade in front of the harbor office.
