New, unique "habitat" for barn swallows located along the north side of Highway 401 near Shannonville.

This structure was erected without fanfare - or explanation - by the Government of Ontario.

It turns out that it is a man-made habitat for barn swallows who usually nest in culverts and under bridges along the highway - only to get evicted when construction season comes along!

This particular structure has 4 pre-fab pods designed to give the birds a head-start on nest building.

This is one of several such structures located along the highway, but the only one in this area.
