German Evangelic Church aka Red Church (Nemecký evangelický kostel, nebo Cervený kostel), built in 1901-1902, is thanks to its 55 m high slender tower and bright red brick facade one of Olomouc landmarks.
The project for the church was worked out in 1898 by the builder, Franz Böhm, and was consequently simplified and revised by the German architect Max Löw. The church's cornerstone was laid on May 17th, 1901 and the building was completed a year later. The church was used by the German Evangelical Church from 1919. After WWII, the Church became a state property and subsequently was used by the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren until 1959. From that year, after desecration, it serves as a book depository of adjacent Scientific library (Vedecká knihovna) in Olomouc.
