This sandstone obelisk stands at the end of a dirt track, off of Holmes Drive, Cumberland Reach in the Upper Hawkesbury region, north of Richmond.

The inscription on the eastern side (access track) reads:
"This obelisk
Erected
As a Memorial
to the Aborigines
of the Hawkesbury
for whom this area
was originally reserved"

The one on the river/southern side is getting a bit weather worn, but this side reads:
"This memorial
is the gift of
P. W. Cledhill Esq.
F.S.A.C.
and interested friends."

The inscription of the western side reads:
"Unveiled by
Cr H. C. Matheson Esq.
President Colo Shire Council.
Dedicated by
Very Rev. Barton Babbage,
M.A.PhD., Th D.,
Dean of Sydney.
5th July 1963"

There is no inscription on the northern base of the obelisk.
