The Pomona branch links the Bridgewater canal to the Manchester Ship canal. It is only a couple of hundred yards long and has one lock, Pomona lock. This is a double width lock.
This branch was built to replace the Hulme Locks branch that was 200 yards long and was built to link the Mersey and Irwell Navigation and the Bridgewater Canal.
