This plaque is located in Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area in Petrolia, Ontario. Beside the plaque there is also a small sign. The rock with the plaque is located in the camping area not far from the visitor centre. The plaque is inside the conservation area which at certain times may require a fee to enter.

1948-1996
RICK WAS ONE OF THE FIRST CAMPERS AT THE LORNE C. HENDERSON CONSERVATION AREA. HE MADE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PARK; INCLUDING THE MURAL TO THE LEFT, AS WELL AS BLAZING NEW TRAILS.

HE WAS A LOVING FATHER, FRIEND, AND BELOVED HUSBAND OF DONNA K. POWERS-GARNER.

"RICHARD JON GARNER
Rick was born May 22, 1948 in London, Ontario. He was a well known local artist in Lambton County.

At the age of 11 he was honored by having an unnamed fossil, named after him. That was recognized by the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.

Gifted at birth, he pursued his talents in art, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and Natural History from San Jose State University and San Jose College of Art, California, United States of America.

Rick was a naturalist at heart, who loved painting wild life most of all. He was a featured artist in the 1996 Ontario Federation of Hunters and Anglers calendar.

Rick was the father of three children, Richard B. Garner, April Garner and Michael Garner.

He died July 17, 1996.
