These three sculptures form a package which tells the story of the founding of Sand Springs. The center sculpture is a known person, but the sculptures on his right and left represent the unnamed hundreds of widows and children who were helped by this man.
In 1901, Charles Page bought land west of Tulsa, and forged out a town, started businesses, all for the purpose of supporting countless orphans and widows.
The sculpture on the left is a life-sized bronze woman, dressed in a cape, nestling a small baby. The sculpture on the right is a boy and a girl, orphans, whose lives were changed by the love and generosity of Charles Page. They are holding out a bouquet of flowers in honor of him. Their expressions hold endearment and gratitude.
These sculptures have no artist's name. (The sculpture of Charles Page appears to be a replica of a Lorado Taft (1860-1936) rendering, and although the mother and children sculptures are reminiscent of his work, we could find no confirmation of this.)
