The 1874 former Bremen Town Hall (now a community centre and National Historic Place) stands right at the highway's edge, with the fire hall to its south. The town itself seems to be one of the most sparsely populated "towns" we've ever visited. The town hall is nearly 3 miles away, through dense forest. By road it's four and a half miles away. The only nearby signs of civilization are the Bremen Union Church, a quarter mile north, and Hillside Cemetery, three quarters of a mile south, with the odd house here and there, set back from the highway.
Mounted on a pole to the south of the hall is an old siren, vintage unknown. The fire hall has five overhead doors, behind which hide the following pieces of firefighting apparatus:
• Engine 1 - 2000 Freightliner / E-One (1250/1000)
• Engine 2 - 2008 GMC C / KME (1000/250)
• Rescue 1 - 1993 Mack / Micro Fire Apparatus
• Tanker 3 - 1995 Freightliner (-/3000)
• Truck 4
The department also retains one retired vehicle, a 1965 Maxim pumper.
No information is available on staff, though it's a good bet that, given the size of the community, it is an all volunteer staff.
