This old graveyard is perched on the eastern end of the reservoir Loch Lee, a mile from the end of the motorable road up Glenesk in the county of Angus, Scotland.
The cemetery is next to the remains of Glenesk Old Parish Church, a late 17th century building which replaced an earlier structure thought to have been burnt to the ground by the Marquis of Montrose in 1645. The church was dedicated to St. Drostan who is said to have established a church on this site in the 8th century. The church was built with granite rubble and only the west, north and east walls remain.
There are 32 graves in the cemetery, most of which are unmarked with tiny stones. Of those inscribed, the earliest is from 1595 and the latest from 1876. Everyone buried here were from the communities of Glenesk and Invermark.
The cemetery can be reached on foot along the track to the loch, just over a mile from the car park at the end of the public road. It can be entered from a gate on the eastern side next to the track.
