The plaque was placed in 1912, on the 100th anniversary of the war, by the Daughters of 1812, State of Maine. The bronze plaque has either been painted or has oxidized to a bright green and has been expertly recessed into a cutout in the boulder. Elsewhere in historic Eastern Cemetery are the graves of several veterans of the War of 1812, as well as the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Eastern Cemetery, incidentally, is now a National Historic Place.
