Darlene Janice (Volk) Masuak
April 23, 1946 - September 2, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Darlene Masuak announce her sudden passing at home near Kuskanook BC on September 2, 2013.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, William; children Christopher and Clara (Spain), Gregory (Los Angeles, CA) and Marika (Sparks, NV); grandchildren Christopher, Quinn, Jackson, Zane, Idries, Sara and Gabriel; sister Ethel (Alan) Murray and family of Regina SK; brother Tom (Jean) Volk of Regina SK, sisters-in-law Lily Machuk of Fairview AB and Lou and Bill Coghill of Ft. Saskatchewan AB, and many nieces and nephews who adored their Auntie Darlene.
Darlene worked for Great Canadian Oilsands in Ft McMurray, Canada Cement Lafarge in Edmonton and Calgary and Occidental Petroleum (Nexen) in Calgary and Yemen. While employed at Canada Cement, she obtained her Certified Management Accountant designation. Bill and Darlene moved from Calgary to the Kootenays in 2001.
Darlene was very involved in the Boswell community, actively involved in the Quilting Guild, Vintner’s, Carpet Bowling and Ladies Golf. She lived life to the fullest, loved hiking and travel, was a superb cook and homemaker and a very talented quilter.
A Celebration of Darlene’s Life was held at Boswell Memorial Hall on September 9, 2013.
She will be interred in the Highland Park Cemetery in Northern Alberta. Source:
