I'm not sure if the rock of the stela is igneous, or metamorphic, but it stands about 1.5 metres high, and is about 0.5 metres thick, and a metre wide.

The plaque reads:
"Commemoration Stone
in recognition of
The Captain Cook
Bi-Centenary Celebrations (1770-1970)
and the occasion of the visit of
H.M. Queen Elizabeth II
Erected by Kingscliff Urban Committee
for the Citizens of Kingscliff - April 1970
J. Bayliss - Chairman A. Wellard - Secretary
J.T. Flood W. Diamond D. Brown T. White"
