KEYES PARK
The land for this City Park was donated by Chester A. Keyes who is considered the "Father of Du Quoin." He platted the city and it was officially dedicated on September 20, 1853.
Du Quoin was incorporated as a town in 1865 and the first Mayor was G.S. Smith.
Du Quoin inherited its name from an old Kakskaskian Indian Chief named Chief Jean Baptiste DuCoigne.
