The stained glass window is on the front of the library building. You go inside and upstairs to see the plaque next to the window.

Dixie Sue Hanna died on September 4, 2007, after putting in a normal workday at the library. At that time she had been on the library staff for more than twenty years, longevity that to this day has not been exceeded. More important than longevity, though, was the work she did. For most of her library career she selected all of the adult materials—books, audiobooks, and videos. Although she previously had had a satisfying career as a nurse, books were what she really loved.
At the time of Dixie’s death many of her friends donated to a memorial for her. In consultation with her daughter, the staff decided a stained glass window would be appropriate. Time passed while staff member Rachael Pattillo worked on designs that were vetted and revised and vetted again. Then Rachael met with Susan Dittmar of Inspiration Glass, located just up 8th Street a few doors from the library, and they began collaborating on how to make Rachael’s design work in the medium of glass. Rachael’s idea was to recreate Dixie’s always-tidy desktop on the lower pane and the upper pane would contain representations of her personal interests—gardening, travel, and art.
