Er ist das Wahrzeichen der Stadt Bern: Der Zytglogge (Zeitglockenturm). Wie der Name schon sagt, handelt es sich um einen Glockenturm. Zur vollen Stunde versammeln sich jeweils zahlreiche Menschen vor dem Zytglogge, um dem einzigartigen Schauspiel beizuwohnen, das sich in der Berner Altstadt zu diesem Zeitpunkt abspielt. Das Figurenspiel mit dem goldenen Stundenschläger, dem Hahn und Chronos, dem Gott der Zeit, ist das grosse Highlight.
Der Zytglogge war das erste Westtor der Stadt Bern (1191-1256). Die kunstvolle astronomische Kalenderuhr und das Spielwerk stammen aus dem Jahr 1530. Die Turmuhr ist eine der ältesten der Schweiz und hatte die Funktion der Hauptuhr der Stadt Bern.
