In a large and fairly new brick building, the Houlton Fire Department has in their building four spiffy pieces of apparatus, a ladder truck, a pumper, a tandem pumper-tanker and a first response-rescue vehicle. The department serves a population of just over 6,000 plus the near rural area. The department has no web page so we have no information on the number of staff. We suspect that it is primarily volunteer with some paid staff. Part of the building is occupied by the ambulance service.
