A series of biographies of prominent Czech artists from the fifties. This one is about Mikolas Aleš. Aleš is estimated to have had over 5,000 published pictures; he painted for everything from magazines to playing cards to textbooks. His paintings were not publicized too widely outside Bohemia, but many of them are still available, and Mikoláš Aleš is regarded as one of the Czech Republic's greatest artists.

Ze zfilmované rady životopisu našich predních umelcu v padesátých letech snad nejživeji pusobí film Mikoláš Aleš režiséra Václava Kršky s Karlem Hogerem v hlavní roli. V té dobe byli filmem glorifikováni a portrétováni umelci (vedci, národní buditelé apod.) a byli predstavováni jako predvoj delnické trídy a jako mluvcí utlacovaného lidu. Vše bylo poplatné soucasné politické situaci a politické poptávce.
