An 8' high bronze sculpture of a bear with a round head and small rounded ears, the characteristic features of the Eurasian brown bear, stands imposingly, upright in a wooded area on top of a hill near an outdoor escalator. The bear has both arms by its sides. The bronze plinth is set at ground level. The sculpture was created by Francois-Xavier Lalanne, who is noted for his sculptures of bears. It was installed in 1992.
A rectangular bronze plaque set stone base a short distance away near the sidewalk on the bear's right side is inscribed:
