Travelling north on Newline Road, just before East Seaham Road [~100 metres south], is a decent sized concrete plinth, with a white marble plaque, and a flag pole.
From a distance, and as the sun was about to rise, I knew that this would be a war memorial (of some kind), but I would never have thought that this one has been provided by the concerned, and practical mothers and women of Seaham, from monies raised from their Knitting Circle.
The white marble plaque reads:
"Honour to Whom Honour Is Due
Erected by
the Knitting Circle
in
Remembrance of the Boys who enlisted
from Seaham
European War 1914-19"
The Monuments Australia website link below has a great daytime photo showing the steps up to a wooden fenced platform, with the flagstaff.
