In the early 1960s, British American Oil (B/A) opened a service station at 1201 Bank Street. At that time, Bank Street was part of busy Ontario provincial highway #31 which dates back to 1927.

In 1965, nearly 25% of all service stations in Canada were B/A stations. This station was then known as B&R service, named for owners B Joseph Tierney and Rudolph J Wojtyna. In 1969, B/A was renamed Gulf Oil and this service station became a Gulf station, Hamilton's Gulf Service Station.

In recent decades, the property has been host to used car sales and service. The posted co-ordinates are for long gone gas pumps.
