Joan Miró sculpted Monument in 1972. The sculpture is sometimes called Monument to the Woman. Locals simply call it - the Egg. The 6' high bronze sculpture is comprised of two parts. An egg shaped top piece rests on a rectangular bottom piece which is beveled towards a large elliptical hole in the center. The arrangement is supported by a bronze rod attached to a rectangular parallelepiped plinth. The sculpture rests on a rectangular base made of stone blocks. The block in front of the sculpture is inscribed:
