It's animated by the colorful and imaginative sculptures of French artist Niki de St-Phalle, together with the aquatic mechanisms of her Swiss partner, Jean Tinguely. A bright blue hat twirls manically while an elephant spits water; the figure with the golden corona was inspired by Stravinsky's Firebird. The fountain is technically not part of the Centre Pompidou, but it fits right in.
