Ganesa Macula, the dark feature on Saturn's moon Titan, bears name of elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, Ganesha. The given coordinates mark his brass statue located in the "Elephant Valley / Udoli slonu" in Prague ZOO, close to Hindu shrine devoted to Ganesha. The statue of Indian origin was installed here in March 2013.
Ganesa Macula is a dark, circular feature on Titan, 180 kilometers (110 miles) wide. It was formerly tentatively identified as a cryovolcanic dome: the result of a mixture of water and ammonia erupting from the center of the dome and spreading out to form a pancake-like deposit. However, topographical data have since shown that it is not dome-shaped, and as a result, there is no longer any evidence that it is of volcanic origin. [wiki]
Ganesha is traditionally worshipped before any major enterprise and is the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors. He is also known as "Lord of the People" (gana means the common people) and as "Lord of the Ganas" (Ganesha is the chief of the ganas, the goblin hosts of Shiva). Ganesha is potbellied and generally depicted as holding in his hand a few round Indian sweets, of which he is inordinately fond. His vehicle (vahana) in the world is the large Indian bandicoot rat, which symbolizes Ganesha’s ability to overcome anything to get what he wants; Ganesha is thus the remover of obstacles.
