In October 1928 the hospital was opened as the Corrigan Maternity Hospital at North Church St & 8th Street in Hazleton, PA In 1943 the Bernadine Sisters took over the hospital and renamed it St. Joseph's Hospital, later St. Joseph's Medical Center. I was dedicated in 1949. I joined Hazleton General Hospital as the Greater Hazleton Health Alliance. It was closed in 2006. It was sold to different companies to be made into a nursing home or housing for the elderly. Nothing materialized, and the building remains empty. Lately it's been the target of vandals.
