This dedicated bench in the Quad contains a plaque that reads:
ALEX MASSEE 1994-2015 TYPICAL SARCASTIC SEATTLE COFFEE-DRINKERLIGHT REFLECTS FROM YOUR SHADOW, IT IS MORE THAN I THOUGHT COULD EXIST.
I was able to locate an obit for this young man that reads:
Alexander Steven Massee, only 21 years old, left us too soon on August 1, 2015. He is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Diane Massee; his twin sister, Katie, his youngest sister, Maddie; and endless family and friends who love him unconditionally. Alex was born in Kirkland, Washington on June 29, 1994, but was a life-long resident of Lake Stevens, Wash. He graduated as one of the top ten in his class from Lake Stevens High School. He then attended the University of Washington in the fall where he frequently made the Dean's list and was able to apply his love of technology in classes he attended. Alex had a great love for coffee and fell instantly in love with how the Seattle lifestyle supported that. He had such a vibrant and happy personality and although he will no longer continue with us in physical form, he will forever continue with us in spirit. He was also known to have a love for the outdoors and will be remembered during every trip out on the boat or family camping trip. Love is stronger than death and Alex was loved beyond any measure by so many individuals. His celebration of life will be held on August 15, 2015 in Bothell, Washington at the Chapel of the Resurrection Funeral Home where he will be honorably laid to rest next to his grandmother. In lieu of flowers, the Massee family would like you to remember Alex by buying a cup of coffee for the person behind you at Starbucks.
