The dedication on the bench reads as follows:
In memory of Special Constable
Malcolm Walkden
For his loyal and committed service to the
Isle of Man Constabulary
1997-2013

On the left of the dedication is a Isle of Man Constabulary Police Helmet with Malcolm's badge number. On the right is the Three Legs of Man or the Triskelion.

This tribute to Malcolm is from the Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team facebook page for 2 May 2013:
It will be a sad day for the Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team on Friday as it is to be the funeral [of] one of our former officers, Special Constable Malcolm Walkden.

Malcolm...had served the Southern community as a Police Officer for nigh on... 16 years, giving his spare time to do his bit. Many will remember him dressed in a Victorian Police uniform including a Police cape for the 2011 Castletown Festival. Malcolm was quite a character and always up for having fun so when I asked him in the October of that year if he would be willing to grow a 'mutton chop' moustache/beard to add to the effect, he readily agreed and kept me up-to-date bi-weekly as to the 'chop progress' !!

Last year, Malcolm transferred to the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team and as he lived in Lonan latterly, gave a committment to the Laxey community . Malcolm still retained his links and loyalty to the South though and readily volunteered to come and assist when we needed his help at events such as the Southern Agricultural Show etc.

As the Chief Constable recently wrote when notifying the Constabulary of the sad news, Malcolm was a very proud man. He was proud to be part of our organisation and even more proud to serve the Isle of Man communities for so long and so well.

Malcolm will be missed by all that knew him and we offer our condolences to his family at this very difficult time.
