I noticed Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church has the distinction of being Seattle's oldest existing parish after reading its timeline of history on its website. The church, erected in 1959, is located across the street from the Seattle Center and iconic Space Needle, built for the Seattle World's Fair in 1962. The property this church sits on was condemned by the World's Fair committee in 1958 but the church won its court battle with the City and kept its property. Most property owners nearby weren't so lucky.
Sacred Heart celebrated 100 years of ministry in Seattle as the city’s oldest existing parish in 1989.
