United States Military Hospital The southern portion of the brick building at the Ohio Levee 150 yards east of here, was part of a large warehouse which was converted into a military hospital in 1861 and staffed during the Civil War by the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Following the Battle of Shiloh 2200 Union and Confederate wounded were patients here.
The brick building (see photo gallery) which was across the street from the marker, was standing when I was there, but on Google satellite view it seems to have been razed.
My visit was in 2008, and a look at the building and it's location from 2014 can been seen in the link provided below.
