The building re-opened in May 2009 as the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House to celebrate democracy and Australia's political history.
Collection
Our heritage collection includes all objects that were a part of or used in the Old Parliament House building prior to its closure in 1988. The heritage collection is protected by the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The Old Parliament House building is the prime ‘object’ in the collection. Our Collection Development Plan outlines the Museum’s collection principles and priorities.
