This is the border between Indonesia and East Timor, the second youngest nation in the World. Timor is an island, the West is part of Indonesia and the East was part of the Portuguese Empire until 1975, when independence was conceded and Indonesia invaded. In 1999 East Timor gained (again) its independence, this time from Indonesia.
The border is modern on the Indonesian side as in the East Timor side it's mostly an outdoors thing.
Crossing it usually takes 30 min, if everything is OK.
It has an unique feature: its "No man's land" has a beach! Why not going for a swim between borders?
Type Of Crossing: Country
Where is the border located?: Rural Road
Welcome Center/Facilities: No
