"BARNETT Yvonne Charvot Barnett, 104, passed away Friday, June 24, 2005, at her residence in Boca Raton. Born November 7, 1900, in CrŽteil, France, Mrs. Barnett was trained as a concert pianist at the famed Paris Music Conservatory. During World War II she fled Occupied France with her artist husband, Bion H. Barnett, Jr. and three daughters, and settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where she continued her musical career. Mrs. Barnett was a professor of piano at the Jacksonville College of Music and, in that capacity, taught many piano students at home, some of whom became prominent in the Jacksonville music world. She was a soloist with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, gave recitals throughout the state of Florida, and was a much sought after accompanist. Family members include her three daughters, Yvonne Barnett West, Caroline Barnett Bryan, and Claudia Barnett Gordon, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday,June 28th in Evergreen Cemetery, Gate 5, with the Reverend Anne H. Bridgers, Associate Dean of St. John's Cathedral officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens or the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra."
