The Stockholm City Hall with its dramatic location in Stockholm Harbor and tower featuring the golden Three Crowns, is one of the most recognizable sights in Stockholm. The City Hall was designed by Ragnar Östberg in the national romanticism style of architecture. It is constructed from eight million red bricks and was opened in the summer of 1923.
The 106 meter (116') tall tower is topped with the Three Crowns of the Swedish coat of arms. The Three Crowns once were on top of the royal palace in Stockholm which burned down in 1697. They have come to be a symbol Stockholm as well as the country of Sweden.
